So this song is not about ones desire for God or His for us, but listening to this song the last night (by myself) before I leave for Europe really hit me. Maybe because I won't have the comforts of my  accountability, security, and familiarity while I'm there...... will I long for these things more than God when they are taken away? Even now I think about things that I have a tendency to run after and seek comfort in.

Okay- I love my job.

I got the opportunity to be an intern this summer with a non-profit called "The Miracle Foundation", and as if the cause itself isn't a good enough reason to jump on board (their mission is empowering orphans in India- here's the link! http://www.miraclefoundation.org/) it's amazing location on W. 6th street in downtown Austin and the wonderful people I get to "work" with everyday are!

I call it "work" with the quotations not because I don't do anything and it's easy, but because everything I have been learning and doing for this job has been so fulfilling that it doesn't feel like work!

Before school got out I had an opportunity to help with TMF's 10 year Anniversary party. This was great because not only was the party one of the best I've ever attended- Bollywood Dancers, henna tattooing, Indian catered cuisine from The Clay Pit, and an open bar (I was the bartender)- but I was able to get to know the people I will be working with on a personal level, hear Caroline's story first-hand on how the non-profit was started, and socialize with some very interesting volunteers who support this incredible organization.

Because I went to this event, I had a foot in the door by the first week and was able to edit a press release, write a blog entry with the pictures I took from the party, and re-vamp the blog completely! (It was black and white before I got ahold of it- here's the new site! http://blog.miraclefoundation.org/) I also was invited to attend a marketing conference on social media with the marketing director, Lisa, and she took me to lunch before we went.

She is a beautiful, free spirited, loving, eccentric, and talented 53 year old woman that I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend time with. After college she went to New York with no plans, no job-just a love for the city and ended up staying there for 8 years! I felt very encouraged by this. Maybe I don't need a detailed "after college" plan.....But anyways- we ended up being photographed for the Austin American Statesman for going to the conference! I also get to be apart of coming up with a social-media marketing plan for the company that we will present to the founder.

This whole experience so far of balancing a 9-5 job, my spiritual and social life, and everything in between has been so rewarding but tiring! I am even in a job that I love but by the end of the day I am exhausted- it really has given me a new respect for all the people who have real jobs, and a new outlook on how important time management is!

I have a few things to be excited about this summer; the first one being my incredible internship with a non-profit on west 6th street in Austin called The Miracle Foundation, and the second being my study abroad trip to Germany, Switzerland, France, and a few other various places.

But I think the most exciting thing that every summer brings is change- a breathe of fresh air from school, an opportunity to reflect, and a responsibility (now that I'm getting older- bleh) to learn from the things I've experienced over the last semester. I think that C.S Lewis describes lasting change perfectly when he says-

"Your real, new self will not come as long as you are looking for it.

It will come when you are looking for Him."

My goal for this summer is to come back refreshed and encouraged from seeking the Lord in the hard parts of this summer (my surgery, getting braces- I will discuss these things further- in times of loneliness and temptation) as well as the good and exciting times-which I feel sometimes can be even harder to do!
